Dublin Tour with Morning Star
When arrived in Ireland they are overcome by mixed feelings, half holiday, half mission. A few weeks earlier Sébastien had met Jesse and the Morning Star in Brussels. When he warned them through an email that Casino Royale (still to be named Major Deluxe) wanted to go on tour to Dublin, he did not expect them to suggest that they could tour together: Jesse & Maddy from the best band of Bristol join Casino Royale, and the Belgian band join the Morning Star past and present as Jesse and Maddy's backing band. INTERNATIONAL BAR / Casino Royale performs for for the first time in front of an English-speaking audience. Then Jesse and Maddy backed by their new band create sensation. The audience asks for more of both bands and Jesse finishes alone, singing some of the older songs. ISAAC BUTTS / On the second night, drinking Guiness in order to forget about the organization and the very young audience, Morning Star and Casino Royale decide to have a shorter joint performance for a few attentive people in the audience. JOY'S LITTLE DISCO / Joy is wonderful, kind, her hospitality is a comfort to both of the bands. She takes them to her little house in Hammond Street which was to shelter some hours later the most little discotheque ever imagined. COBBLESTONE / Emilie acts as a manager and has to fight to impose Morning Star and Casino Royale in the programme of the Cobblestone's, a mythical folk club in Smithfield Village, now forgotten. Despite the restricted but expert audience, the band gives one of their best gigs. These last moments of the Irish trip are touching. |
