Recruiting, the beginning
After the Troubadours' adventure and their mindblowing folk rock, after the end of the Strings project, Sébastien and Benjamin go on with experimenting music between spaghettis, rosé, litres of coffee and games of chess. François, the Troubadours' pianist, has not really disappeared from the scene and joins the embryonic band. The first recruiting takes place in a 2nd class compartment of a train: Ludovic, a trumpet player, joins the band. After that there happen the first recordings on a 4 track and everything is already in there: the layers of pop folk guitars, the melodic bass and its sober expressivity, the frank and polished melodies of the trumpet, the pop but restrained singing. They are to be joined later by the virtuosity of the piano and the organ half Doors, half Talk Talk. Meanwhile the headhunter finds the real gem: Barbara, playing the flute. Afterwards he finds a subtle drummer, more of a percussionist and especially in an anti-GMO meeting. Sebastien D, already a member of Tournai rock scene, the leader of psyche and furious combos, joins the band as well. Evelyne is the last one to join the first Major Deluxe formation. At the time Sébastien wants to assemble as many musicians as possible for the symphonies that he is already thinking of. Evelyne has to play the second keyboard. Even if it is her first rock experience the strange and original harmonies she adds to the band's orchestrations surprise her partners. In the following years there are some changes in the staff: some go away, but there are also meetings and collaborations with Sébastien T., Corentin, Nicolas, et Samuel. Today Samuel, Sébastien, François, Thomas and Ludovic carry on walking together, always welcoming their former partners for some gigs or recordings. |
